Amir Kaltgrad is a trial attorney representing businesses and individuals in a broad range of commercial litigation matters, including shareholder and partnership disputes, professional malpractice, complex business torts, real estate, and contract disputes. Amir has successfully tried cases in both federal and state court in cases of first impression, including representing clients in high-stakes litigation and white collar criminal defense. He also has experience defending individuals and corporations in a range of criminal and regulatory matters, including securities and health care fraud.

Amir’s recent notable cases include obtaining a defense verdict, after an eight-week jury trial, in a $100 million partnership dispute arising from the acquisition of a wellness resort and obtaining a $32 million judgment for cyber theft by a former officer of a digital internet advertising company.

  • Obtained a defense verdict as lead trial counsel on behalf of family-run furniture distribution company where former CEO sought $3 million in damages for breach of contract. Corbin v. Oak Furniture West LLC.
  • Obtained a defense award as lead counsel in three-day arbitration on behalf of insurance company where former employee claimed $1 million in damages for alleged breach of contract. Perilman v. Atlas General Holdings.
  • Obtained a defense verdict as second-chair trial counsel on fraud claim asserted against CBD company. Herman v. Coffman.
  • Obtained dismissal in federal court on behalf of leading global brand licensing agency in contract dispute regarding breach of exclusive licensing agreement, tortious interference, and negligence on agency principle of conditional privilege and Illinois’ economic loss doctrine. Argento SC by Sicura Inc. v.   • Obtained reversal on appeal of order denying summary judgment with instructions on remand to enter summary judgment and instructions to reevaluate amount of attorneys’ fees awarded under Code of Civil Procedure Section 1021.5 in light of total success on appeal. California DUI Lawyers Association v. California Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Obtained a defense verdict, after an eight-week jury trial, in a $100 million partnership dispute arising from the acquisition of wellness resort Glen Ivy Hot Springs. Wickline v. GOCO Hospitality Global Opportunity Ltd.
  • Second-chair trial lawyer for corporate defendants in four related #MeToo actions arising from claims of sexual harassment and gender discrimination in the workplace.
  • Represented international client in litigation concerning the consignment and sale of fruit shipped from South America to the Netherlands. Fresh Results LLC v. ASF Holland, B.V.
